THE START OF THE POWERED PAPER AIRPLANE CHALLENGE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER – ARE YOU READY?
At POWERUP, we’re passionate about aerodynamics and education (okay, and fun!) so we’re glad you’re joining us for the first-ever Powered Paper Airplane Challenge for education! It’s the perfect activity for schools that are enthusiastic about project-based learning. We’ll work together to give students a hands-on flight experience as they use their creativity and learn about physics and aerodynamics.
IMPORTANT DATES
Registration deadline: We extended the deadline to Friday, October 12, 2018!
Submission dates: Educators can submit their entries starting Thursday, November 1, 2018, but the final deadline is Friday, November 30, 2018. See below for submission tips.
HOW DOES THE CHALLENGE WORK?
As a STEM or project-based learning champion at your school, you will guide your students through the learning and experimental design stages using a six-lesson curriculum. We’ll provide you with all the instructional materials you need, including:
- Powered Paper Airplane Challenge guide
- Six-lesson curriculum covering basic aerodynamics, and more
And, we are offering special educator pricing on the POWERUP 2.0 kits - a 20% discount on our MSRP.
HOW DO YOU UPLOAD YOUR FLIGHT VIDEOS?
Once you've recorded your video, follow these instructions:
Flight Deck users:
- If you haven’t set up an account in Flight Deck, click here to sign up.
- Once you’re signed in, click “Explore” on the top right corner of the screen. Then click “+Share” to upload your flight

Select your media type – either a YouTube video or a video file. Videos should be under 5 minutes in length.
- In the title field of the form, make sure to include “Challenge 2018” (Challenge #2 is only an example) and “POWERUP 2.0.”
- Click Submit and find out if you’ll rise to the top of the competition!
- Share your video via Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and email to show your friends. This will be an option once your entry is published on Flight Deck.
